Playing My Cards
Playing my cards:
I've never been to Vegas, but from what I know and have gathered it's a city full of glitz and glamour, fame, and lots of people putting on a show.
I don't like to gamble because I'm far too realistic and know what might happen to my money. I'm not good at playing cards and really don't know the rules.
I feel like my life with four kids and lots of moving is enough of a gamble day to day. There's lots of "playing my cards" and "dealing" so I end up with the biggest stack of chips at the end of the day. But let's be honest, most days I've dealt my cards wrong and my kids seem to come out bigger winners than me!
I deal my cards the best I know how and try to follow the rules of the game (life). Some days I end with big winnings and lots of chips and feel on top of the world. Other days Ive lost all my chips and end in debt. I try so hard to keep a poker face and deal my cards right; however, more oft be than I'd like to admit I fold. I lean back and throw my cards down. IM. DONE.
See the problem is as the dealer, I have to be on my game. I've got a whole casino of games going and I have to be sure that the games are being played fairly. The rules change all the time and the decks of cards are changing.
We're getting a new deck to play with this week and that always throws us for a loop. The "faces" are different; some deck have more jokers and queens than others. One persons "hand" is much different than another's. In some games the low cards end up being the winning number!
I just have to deal my cards right and play the hand that I get. See in this game, everyone wins. The rules are the same. The rules don't change, I change and learn how to play a little better each time. I'm going to keep my poker face on; even though, right now it looks like I need to fold. I know I'll end up winning again.
I'm so grateful for the ONE (Jesus) who deals my hand. I KNOW without a doubt, He only deals out winning hands. I do end up with some jokers that make the game more interesting, queens and kings whose power comes and goes, and the "jacks" of all trades. Although what makes the game interesting and keeps it alive is all those numbers that keep the game in check and pair up so nicely. Most important in any card game is the sheet of rules to follow (the Bible). When I forget how to play, I just need to reference the creator of the game!
Off I go for a "night on the strip" (the USA) with a new deck of cards (Japan) I'm afraid to open and my poker face set....wish us luck!
